My 3D2N Staycation in KTPH - Part II

At the emergency entrance, hubb went to get a wheelchair for me, i was being wheeled around for registration and pre-check for temperature, blood pressure... after the pre-checked while i'm still on the wheelchair, my body is so weak.. at the same time i'm so tired and dozed off each time during the wait.

Soon my turn to see doctor. He pressed few points on my tummy, the pain is .. i tell you no words can describe... He gave a very initial conclusion that suspected bacteria infection/ appendicitis. He drew my blood for test, and also ask for some urine specimen. While waiting for these result, he asked us to wait outside again, and he needs to ask for his senior consultant to review my case..

Blood Test #1 result - low blood count

Senior Consultant (OMG he quite a nice looking chap), he pressed my tummy again. And after some discussion in front of us with his Junior. He turned to us and said, we suggest her to do an ultrasound test to check on her womb, and CT scan for appendicitis. And also wanted me to go for drip as i didn't eat for the last 12hours.

I was brought to an Isolation room by a male nurse and Hubb was not allowed to follow... The place is eerie and scary.. Is an individual room by itself, couple of patients and mainly senior citizen, some are sleeping quietly, some are moaning and screaming in pain. Im really scared. The male nurse insert the drip, and push me to another Emergency observation room.

That's where i did my ultra sound scan and CT scan. Waited till about 830pm, the result from CT scan is out, tested negative for appendicitis. I was given with 2 choices : stay or admit. The Call doctor tried to persuade me to stay, and hubb was also worried that i might be sent back again if things don't get any better.. So I decided to stay..  See the amazing of this drip.. 1 Drip connecting to 2 different tubes (one is IV drip the other is medication)

By 10pm, I'm being send to Tower A, Ward 51, Bed 7...

I can't rest either, Call doctors, nurse on duty come to my bed time and time to check on me..

My first very meal after 36hrs.. I didn't eat much just a few mouthful...

And my dinner on Day 2.

The result of blood test.. A bruised vein. A worst see there 2 bruises? Yes 2 blood test from the same hand.

I was off from drip for 1hour because I told nurse I really want to go down walk walk.. So how daddy going to handle 2 kids and 1 patient? That's have Cutie & me sit on the wheelchair.. And also to accompany them to go downstairs and have lunch at the foodcourt.

Little niece came to visit me and draw me this.

My left-handed drip is blocked.. So I have to poke another one on my right so that I can con't on to be dripped.

My breakfast and lunch on Day 3. I was so hoping to go home, when the call doctor came in the morning and said that she can't released me as my urine specimen which was sent for cultured test has not been released. I was so disappointed.. i really miss kiddoes and i miss my home. After my breakfast, i went to take a shower, and when i came out from the shower room nurse revealed that it seems like i can go home.. Yay.. I'm sooooo happy.

My 3D2N Staycation in KTPH - How it started

On 26 Sep after our usual lunch with colleagues in Century Square. Weather was hot, and walking a distance back to office was really killing. After came back from lunch, started to feel terrible, thought it is just after meal syndrome.. but No... by time is about 5pm, i started having joint pain, feeling very lousy, and upper abdominal pain. I decided to just go straight home and skipped the badminton session. (my colleague was still kind of mad about me, thinking i'm just giving excuse not to go as i told her the day before can i not skipped one week)..

Got onto a cab, and headed back home but i decided to just stop over to my GP just in case i still need to walk out later. at the GP, doctor scan a mild temperature of 37.7 and based on my description and check on my tummy.. he diagnoised me with "STOMACH FLU", as given with a day MC to rest at home.

Mum was surprise to see me home so early as she thought i will go for my weekly exercise. Just replied to her, "i'm having a fever now, and i just want to rest". as usual, I took my shower, and went down to fetch sweetie from school bus. Came home, settled her with dinner.. I just drank a bowl of soup, and off i went to pop my medications and ly on bed... At about 11pm when hubb came home, i was feeling super cold and shivering. Even asked him to pass me a jacket. My abdominal pain was also up to the next level however it is still quite bearable... After he passed me the dosage of medicine i went back to sleep till..... 5am... the pain worsen is so unbearable.. i cried and woke hubb up.. there noting he can do.. he took my temp guess was pretty high.. and fed me with the next medicine. I can't stand sleeping in the aircon, so i went out to living room and sleep on the couch...

Managed to sleep through and woke up around 9am. i tried getting up from couch but i need help. the pain is more intensed and constant. i cant' even walk with my back straight. Mum asked why don't i go see doc again, and call hubb he was engaged in training. She nearly wanted to call an ambulance to send me to hospital where i told her no need will wait for Allan to pick me after his training.

Hubb came home around 1pm, and send me to KTPH A&E. ..... continue in part II

Totally Weaned off from milk bottle

Effective from 1 Jul 2012, Cutie has totally weaned off from his milk bottle. Not too sure if is because of me changing all his bottles one shot, or due to his stomach viral, there is no definite answer, only he himself knows the best.

for the 1st week, we were all so worried as he suddenly refused Formula milk. Even to the extent to use force feeding him.. then at the 2nd week, when we brought him to a PD, just some enlightenment from Dr Saw.. "why worry as he has already past 2yos, and he doesn't look skinny/ bony.. to me he looks solid"...

Anyway, he is now on free diet. Which means he eats whatever he wants and is available.. He can drink whatever he likes to drink.. Fave food right now is still Char Siew Bun, Yoghurt from Yoplait.. Sweets & Sweets, chocolate biscuits... etc etc..

How would you feel as a parent seeing your child so suffering, heart really sank whenever he took off his clothes... As a child of just 2.5YO i'm really proud of this son, he didn't wail much except for the medic applications where he can feels the sting sensation. other then he is still doing fine..

Should I send him for blood test to know what is his allergy with?

Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) Article Rating: Tweet2

Atopic dermatitis or Eczema is a skin condition that frequently occurs in young children, although it may start in young adults and can continue into adult life. Itching of the skin can be caused by irritants, infections, allergies and stress. Avoiding allergens such as animal dander, dust mites and cockroaches can improve atopic dermatitis. Eliminating foods to which a person is allergic will also result in the improvement of the eczema.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rash of atopic dermatitis called eczema appears as a red rash with flaking skin or as small blisters/bumps.

The location of eczema is dependent on the area of the body that is scratched.

In infants and very young children this rash involves the face especially the cheeks, chest and trunk, back of the scalp and may involve the arms and legs.

In older children and adults, it involves the skin in front of the elbows and behind the knees. It may involve the eyelids and the palms of the hands and soles of the feet in certain people.

Causes

Irritants that cause itching through direct stimulation of the skin include:

harsh soaps

chemicals

wool fabrics

heat and sweating

Skin infections which can cause itching include:

Staphylococcus Aureus infections which can worsen the itching and eczema.

Herpes virus infections can cause severe skin infections in people with atopic dermatitis.

Allergies can be a significant trigger for itching and include:

Animal dander and dust mites,

Pollens and mold spores in the air

Food allergies include egg and milk allergy particularly in children.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis is made by:

History of allergy in the patient or family history of allergy.

Itch. The patient must have itch in order for the rash to occur.

Eczema. Eczema refers to the appearance of the rash in patients with atopic dermatitis. The rash appears red with small blisters or bumps. They may ooze or flake with further scratching.

Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis

Eczema with uncontrolled itch needs to be treated with medications which include:

Steroids for application on the skin are the first line therapy for atopic dermatitis and are available in the form of lotions, creams, ointments and solutions (for the scalp).

Oral steroids are required to achieve control of a severe flare of atopic dermatitis.

Oral and topical antibiotics. Topical antibiotics are enough for localised infections of eczema while oral antibiotics may be needed for infections involving larger areas of skin.

Non-sedating antihistamines during the day or with sedating antihistamines such as diphenhydramine at night can be used to control itching.

Living with Eczema

Avoid the triggers of itch by avoiding wool, nylon, stiff or irritating clothing which may irritate the skin and promote sweating.

Wear light cotton clothing and use only mild detergents for washing. Avoid the use of fabric softeners as they may irritate the skin.

Avoid getting sun-burned and use sunscreens when you are out in the sun.

Avoid traumatizing the skin by keeping fingernails short and hands clean to avoid scratching and infecting the skin.

Maintain good skin care with adequate moisturizing and hydration which helps decreases itching and formation of eczema.

Avoid the use of pure petroleum jelly as it does not moisturize the skin unless placed on top of a moisturizer or moist skin.

Avoid extremely hot/cold water showers or baths. When you bathe soak in the water until the fingertips start to wrinkle. Avoid rubbing with a towel, rather blot dry and apply a moisturizing cream immediately all over the body.

New Year Eve Y2011

Sweetie has gone over to Jiujiu place for stayover and she won't be counting down with us. She was initially alittle upset when Jiujiu didn't answer her phone this morning and mummy teased her sky is turning dark is going to rain soon. she quickly ran to the windows and start singing "rain, rain go away" and blowing at the dark cloud off.. I'm so amused by this funny action.

So mummy and daddy brought cutie out for supper along the S'goon road - Teochew Porridge, and we drive to SK riverside. This countdown was indeed a memorable one. We park our car along the sengkang riverside, and watch the fireworks in the car and is just right in front of us. Tonight i only have cutiecudding in my arms. While Sweetie has gone over to jiujiu house for stayover :(. Love you kiddoes.
