Baobei's eye check (2nd opinion) & Mummy's gynae appt

Today is "Doctors' Day"..

1st we brought baobei to seek for 2nd opinion at Mount Alvenia Hospital - Eagle Eye Centre for specialist opinion. We have made the appt with Dr Lim Wee Kiat at 10.30am.... After waiting for about an hour, the optometrist called for baobei's name... He did a prelimary check on her eye sight also with the eye dilation and compare together with the earlier report given by KKH.. He dare to make the initial confirmation, Baobei's right eye indeed is long-sighted aka Lazy Eye and the degree is about the same with est 500 on her right eye and 200 on her left eye.. Based on Dr Lim WK advice, Baobei need to put on glasses as well as to patch her left eye for at least 4-5hours per day during the activity times in order to wake the lazy eye to work... at least comparing to KKH, this Dr Lim is quite confident to say Lazy Eye can be corrected at this young age...

2nd appt is mummy's 6wks post natal check.. Woo lala.. the weight is now 51.8kg, i still have another 2.8kg to shed.. Hope with the help of breastfeeding, mummy can regain her pre-natal weight soon... Also Baobei has drawn a drawing for Dr Lim (gynae).. which mummy forgot to take pix of it Shucks...  And when she presented the drawing to him, this "grandfather" is really surprised and happy... Think this is really their affinity.. they seem to click very well.. hahahaha... Anyway, Dr Lim has done an overall check on the wound, the womb, everything is well, the wound is also fully recovered.. Yipee...

Chinese Doctor reviewed

Baobei has been having "insect bite" like swell with piles on her body for no reason. it is just something like what daddy used to have on his legs.. But for her she didn't swell as bad as daddy on the affected area.. Initially we thought it could be insect bite, and kept writing in the communication booklet to ask tr from school if they have any plants in the classrooms..

The Chinese Physician from Makuang @ Middle road said, baobei is having senstive skin and also her body belongs to the heaty side.. This is what the previous Chinese Doc said also.. Baobei is prone to high fever very easily and usually the fever will be very high.. true enough, most of her fever are usually 39 degree celcius and above.. and the max it will hit is normally 39.9 dc.

Also, baobei needs to have a better controlled diet.. less seafood, eat more veg & fruits.. things to avoid, Salmon, Cod fish, half boiled eggs, etc.. Also, less biscuits as it is more to heaty food... Drink plenty of water..

As for mummy, since the birth of baby.. she has been working day & night taking care of baby and neglecting her health.. Also during the month of confinement, she can't take too much of the confinement food. Tt why she is now having a poorer immune system., has been feeling my wrist pain and thought it was my old hand injury.. It was not.. The doctor says mummy is having signs of rhemutism.. That is also because she is having slightly numbness on her palm.. Well?? What can we do??? How can mummy has enough rest when she has to handle everything? From feeding, express milk, coax baby back to sleep, washings of bottles, etc.. Taking care of not 1 but 2?? even popo tried to help, but how much she can help???

Baobei's Eye Check at KKH

We brought baobei to KKH eye centre for her follow up review.. There are really alot of little children there.. many of them are being referred by Health Promo Board during the eye check...

First, Baobei was asked to put her face for cornea review.. then the nurse ask her to sit on the chair where the glasses are put on with various lenses... Baobei wasn't showing any coorperation as is her nap time.. She become alittle grouchy and give a "anyhow" answer when asked on the alphabets.

After which we have to wait for the optometrist, Dr Shazia Khan, for further review. She then ask us to do eye drop for baobei she as they can do further testing... And that's when the doctor concluded she has a very serious AMBLYOPIA aka long-sightness on her right eye with 700 over degrees and left eye with 500 over degrees. This Dr kept telling us to put on glasses for her and patch her corrected eye in order for the lazy eye to work.. We are really having doubts on her professionalism.. And therefore we have decided to bring baobei to seek for 2nd opinion.. Let the specialist shows their professionalism and hope glasses can be avoided.

But for the patch eye, as this has convinced us that is not harmful to any of her eyes. We are ok to proceed with it. And will need to request the school trs for help.. 1st : to encourage baobei to patch her good eye 3hrs daily so as to "trained" her affected eye to work.. 2nd: to speak to the children in her school not to tease her...

** Extract from SNEC http://www.snec.com.sg/eye/amblyopia.asp
Amblyopia is commonly known as lazy eye. This should not be confused with squints. Amblyopia is poor vision in an eye that did not develop normal sight during early childhood. After the age of four years, the development of the part of the brain that processes vision is almost complete. If the brain has not received clear images from the weak eye, it would be difficult to improve the vision in this eye after the brain is completely developed. The eye is then said to be amblyopic or lazy.

Common Causes Of Amblyopia (Lazy eye) Short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism
- Large differences in refractive power between the two eyes
- Strabismus (squint)
- Obstruction of vision by droopy eyelid, cataract or other lesions.

Early Detection
Successful treatment depends on how severe the amblyopia is and the age of the child when treatment is begun. If the problem is detected early, successful treatment is possible and treatment time is shorter. If it is detected after the age of four, the success rate would be very low.

Since the child is usually too young to complain of poor vision, this detection requires early checking of the vision by the family doctor, paediatrician or ophthalmologist before three years of age.

Treatment
To correct amblyopia, the child must be forced to use the lazy eye. This is usually done by patching or covering the good eye, often for weeks or months. If the child also requires spectacles, he must wear it all the time.

The basis of patching is to allow the amblyopic eye to be used more often than the other eye so that it gets a chance to develop normal vision. The recovery of vision is better if patching is done at a very early age, preferably before 4 years old.

Patching
When first applying the child's patch, you may like to explain the reason to the child, or demonstrate on a doll. If the child is schooling, explain the treatment to the teacher so that she will encourage the child to perform his/her usual tasks with the patch on. She can also discourage classmates from teasing.

Treatment may take weeks to years. The younger the age of starting treatment, the faster the recovery. It is important that the child be reviewed regularly.

Problems That May Arise
Sore skin Leave patch off at night
Change size or shape of patch

If the child wants to remove the patch Use mittens or socks on the hands of young children so they cannot peel the patch off

Use empty paper towel roll over hands and elbows so that they cannot bend their arms to peel the patch off

Older children refusing to wear the patch to school Wear at other times, but overall treatment time would be prolonged

The Part Time Maid Terror

Thru recommendation I have called for Gindaly Enterprise for part time maid service, initially i thought is a Chinese maid, came along with a Mynmar maid call Jeny.

Gosh i have never never seen a person ironing 10 Men Shirts in 1.5hrs.. A person who washed the toilet and not washing the wall tiles.. Rather sorry for being crude.. can't help but to say she is very "TUT".. when she is in the toilet, she still ask me if thr a need to wash the shower area or juz the toilet area. And also there is a cotton pad in the toilet bowl and she juz insert the toilet scrub w/o flushing off the cotton first.. make the toilet scrub all with the cotton...

She vaccum the floor ard the house and i still have to remind her there is the existence of kitchen.. I asked her to help me to change my bedsheet, in the end, she didn't use the right side of the bedsheet and I still have to change by myself!!!!.. really damn it...

Lastly, she clean up my house with leftover mess in my room.. in the end i still have to clear it up!!!!... See pix below.

This is really maddening.. I called up the boss Alice and complaint. She still dare to tell me, she can;t do anything., When the maid is there i need to be there to supervise... WTF!!!!.. If i need to supervise her all the while, then i mite as well don't call for her service.. And if she call her back to redo, I still have to pay her...

The end of confinement... Baby 1st trip to T3.

Today marks the end of the confinement.. No more herbal bath, no more "nags" when we go out, everything will be back to normal...

Mummy has suggested to go T3 for dinner as we are hands-tight to cook our own meal nowadays... Partly also, we are lazy to cook. We went to the food-court at T3, and had hand-made noodle.. Oh.. The noodle is not nice.. Mummy still miz the noodle from Tampines One... Should find a day back to Tampines one...

Anyway, after our dinner.. Opps Baby poo.. so we brought him to the nearest toilet to change his diaper.. Tt is his 1st time changing diaper in the public.. After the changed, baobei asked "mummy, can i help you to throw away?" I'm so pleased with her.. And gave her a big kiss with Thanks... I'm proud of her!!!!

We walked further down and saw the mini-playground.. Baobei said she wants to play for a short while.. Oh my.. THen I realised she has grown so much taller over the year. Last year April, when we were there, she hasn't exceed the height of the playground.. And now, she has overshoot it... HEhehe...
